A NOVICE is someone who can TRANSPOSE songs into keys that better match a singers voice using BAR chords.

 
Once you have learned these six movable shapes and can switch between them with ease,  you will know the chords for 95% of all western music.
 
There are two main families of these chords:
  • The "E" shape
  • The "A" shape
Each family has three main variants
  • MAJOR
  • MINOR
  • DIMINISHED

Take note of the little yellow dots on some of the notes. Notice how they are in the same place for each family. These dots are the roots of the chord. Do not get hung up with it, just make a mental note and move on.
